How Coyote Boltless Internal Pneumatic Beadlocks Work

The Coyote Boltless Beadlock is a tire within a tire. It divides the tire’s air chamber into two separate compartments and thus has two valve stems. One is for the tire and the other for the beadlock. Think of the beadlock Case as a mini-tire and hence its parts are named the same. There is a Tread, two Sidewalls and two Beads. A heavy duty inner tube within the beadlock Case forces the Case to take shape and do its job. The inner tube is inflated up to 50 PSI and forces/pinches both tire beads against the wheel. On a 15 inch wheel, we calculate that there is over 4,500 pounds of force holding the beads against the wheel! This is in addition to the force required to pop the beads over the wheel’s bead bumps. Through a standard valve stem fitted with an Air Channel, the balance of the tire can be inflated or deflated to any pressure less than 45 PSI.

ADVANTAGES

Coyote beadlocks have several advantages over conventional, mechanical beadlocks. You can use your existing wheels. They lock both the outside and inside tire beads to the wheel. This prevents the inside tire bead from burping air. They provide a 3 inch high, 50 psi “bump stop” that reduces wheel and tire damage in demanding uses like Baja and Hammer racing. There are no balance issues. There are no DOT issues, hence they are street legal. There are no bolt circle torque maintenance requirements. They give you a “limp flat” capability to get back to camp or off to the side of the trail for a safer setting to change to your spare.

There is a 5 year limited manufacture warranty on the beadlock material and workmanship and 1 year limited manufacture warranty on the inner tube. What Coyote does not cover is improper installation, pinched inner tubes or mis-drilled holes in wheels

If you would like long air channels with your beadlock please let us know in the comments section of your order during checkout.

A rule of thumb is if the standard valve stem hole is inboard more than 3", then the long Air Channel may be needed. Another way to determine if a longer air channel is needed send us 2 pictures of your wheel. One overall view and another closeup of the edge of the rim and valve stem hole with a ruler measuring the distance.
